We are becoming increasingly aware of our environment, and
the detrimental effects of dumping waste liquids, particularly
those containing heavy metals. Increasingly sophisticated
methods of purification are being applied. Iron powder/magnetite
is used to manufacture ferric/ferrous chloride, which is used
for water purification among other things.
The use of sponge iron powders ensures high chloride purity.
The low sulfur content of sponge iron powder minimizes the
risk of a disturbing formation of hydrogen sulfide in the
dissolution operation.
A further advantage of sponge iron powders over conventional
iron materials is the high specific surface area, which results
in a higher reactivity and shorter dissolving times.
