Since the 1920s, iron powders have been used in the metallurgical
industry to improve the properties of other metals. Some examples:
-
Iron powder products is often used in high-quality steel
production, both as a raw material and as an auxiliary
material in the micro-alloying process
-
In modern steel production, cored wires containing pure
iron powder are plunged deep into the melting ladle
-
Iron powder is used as an alloying agent in non-ferrous
metallurgy; e.g. to improve the mechanical properties
of some aluminum and copper alloys.
