Metal spray powders

Plasma sprayingPlasma spraying

In principle employing the same process as flame spraying, the flame of the plasma spray comprises an electrically excited plasma of high velocity and temperature (» 15,000°K). Therefore, a denser coating (»98%) can be achieved than with flame spraying. This method is particularly favored where no subsequent fusing is to be carried out. Coating thickness is 0.1-1.5 mm, and deposit rate 2-8 kg/h.

HVOF

High-Velocity Oxy-Fuel guns offer an important new thermal spray process which combines extremely high velocity (1,000 m/s) and moderate temperature in the flame. HVOF coatings have an excellent density (>99.5%), hardness and bond strength. Coating thickness is 0.1-2.0 mm, and deposit rate up to 7 kg/h.
