Metal spray powders
Powder welding
Powder welding employs a standard oxy-acetylene torch, with the
powder fed into the flame from an attached hopper.
The powder melts to provide a dense coating, forming a strong bond
to the base material by surface alloying and diffusion. Powders
including fluxing elements such as boron and silicon are necessary.
The powder welding process gives a coating thickness from 0.2 to
12 mm, and is typically used for smaller parts or repairs. It is
particularly suitable for the repair of cast iron and for repairing
defects in machined parts. The coating obtains a very smooth surface,
and can often be used with little or no further machining. The torches
are simple to use - only the flame requiring adjustment.

The following powders are normally carried in stock. There are
other powders in the range, which are available on request.

All kinds of applications with high demand
on wear or corrosion resistance. Further improvement of wear
resistance can be obtained by mixing with carbides. For rocker
arms, bearings, diesel engine valves, crusher rolls, conveyer
screws, fan blades, textile spindles, pistons, pump shafts,
agricultural arms and mixer blades
